  • A place for people

by Sylvie Hyman, 15 days ago

What I'd like to see along Minnetonka Boulevard is a thriving ecosystem of homes, businesses, people, and plants.

What I would like to hear is birds tweeting, people chatting, and other signs of life happening; not the zooming cars, revving engines, and squealing brakes I'm listening to as I write from the Texas Tonka bus stop.

What I'd like to smell is clean, exhaust free air.I'd like to feel safe and welcomed.

A space designed for people first where humans are prioritized over the movement and storage of cars.

  • Safer Streets

It would be amazing to have Minnetonka Blvd more walkable and for car traffic to be more centered around Highway 7. Stop signs, roundabouts, speed bumps, and a lower speed limit could help discourage more traffic and slow it down.
  • More EV charging infrastructure and bicycle safety

    by Shad, 15 days ago

Every gas station should have a level 3 charging station with at a minimum of 4 chargers. Texa-Tonka should have a bigger charging station. Imagine the added business for the restaurants.

Bicycle lanes wide enough to feel safe going both directions.

Cars slowed down to 25 MPH.

    More green space.

  • Safety first!

This road encourages high speeds and can significantly benefit from traffic easing techniques.

    Main issues with this road that need resolved;

    • Cars drive into the bike lane to go around cars turning left or to get into right-turning lanes at traffic lights. This makes it dangerous for cyclists.
    • Cars turn right on red, without stopping first creating constant flow of traffic not allowing breaks in traffic during high traffic hours.
    • There are cross walks (near texa-tonka shopping / elementary school) but cars ignore these --even when pedestrians are actively present! This area could benefit from traffic easing, lower speed limits... Continue reading

  • Bike lanes!

by A Birchwood Resident, 15 days ago
My vision for Minnetonka Boulevard is one where I can safely ride my bike from my home near Birchwood Park to Texa-Tonka for a coffee at Angel Food Bakery. I love what was done on Cedar Lake Road-something similar on Minnetonka Boulevard would be superb!

Trees make a boulevard... please consider many many trees as part of the work. Redo sidewalks and curbs. Ensure bike lanes. I see people bike today and it's quite dangerous. Lastly, consider 30 mph speed limit.
  • All Together Now

I think SLP residents deserve another farmer’s market location in addition to what is offered at the West End; something open daily or on weekends, at least. Additionally, I think St. Louis Park residents should have a center of the arts, such as Hopkins does. There’s a lot of talent and potential in our community which could be nurtured. I also feel that bus lines that shoot off of Minnetonka Boulevard would be extremely helpful. The Louisiana bus is too infrequent, and the 9 only goes as far as Cedar Lake Road. If not additional buses, I think it’d be... Continue reading

  • No Roundabouts

by Sally , 19 days ago
I don't think roundabouts are safe in major intersections such as Texas or Louisiana, especially during rush hours. They may be a bit faster but without marked "stops" everyone thinks they have the right of way.
  • Local stores

It would be nice to see local stores come back to Minnetonka blvd. Having shops from hwy 100 and going east would be nice.
