Minnetonka Boulevard
Hennepin County, in coordination with the City of St. Louis Park, is planning to reconstruct Minnetonka Boulevard (County Road 5) between Vernon Avenue and Xylon Avenue. Construction is planned to begin in 2027.
We want to hear your vision for the future of Minnetonka Boulevard. Check back here for opportunities, both virtual and in-person, to tell us about how you use the road today and how you think it can be improved. Your input, alongside city and county plans, technical needs and feasibility, will inform design decisions in the months ahead.

Glass enclosed bus stops
by Joe wickett , about 1 month agoIt would be nice to switch the bus stops to something similar as what’s been done on Texas Avenue. The bus stop by my house on Colorado ave obstruct my view of traffic when I’m going north on Colorado at Minnetonka Boulevard, traffic to the west is obstructed by the bus stop at the corner. In addition, I have witnessed the remnants of people huffing to get high and liquor bottles scattered on the ground in that bus stop on numerous occasion since I’ve lived in the neighborhood it would be nice to swap that out for the rocks like... Todd's Vision
by jayhawk1855, about 1 month agoA 3-lane road with the center dual left so that cars don't try to drive on the shoulder around you when turning left. Not every intersection needs a left though--some could be blocked by landscaped median islands. There would be a good bike lane so that it doesn't conflict with walkers on a sidewalk (not a multi-use trail is what I'm saying). -
Slow down cars, safer for pedestrians and cyclists
by Ryan, about 1 month agoI want Minnetonka Boulevard to be designed for more than just cars: narrower lanes, raised cross walks, and curb extensions should be used to naturally slow down traffic. The bike lane should be easy to plow in the winter but more protected from cars. It can either be at street level (not up on the curb on either side and shared with the pedestrians like Hennepin Ave in downtown, or cedar lake road in SLP) or be a dedicated separated two way bike path like Bryant Ave.

A street young people can cross
by Tom, about 1 month agoMy vision for Minnetonka Blvd is a street that children of all ages (and their guardians) can feel safe crossing to get to the many schools along this corridor.(This section, specifically, includes HS, Aquila, and P.Hobart) Families should feel safe sending kids across M'tonka to these (and other) schools.

My vision for Minnetonka Boulevard is…
by REKipp, about 1 month agoa street where I'll actually walk when walking through my neighborhood, rather than one I actively avoid. I also look forward to significantly improved pedestrian crossings at major intersections (and maybe some more minor intersections). -
Useful and attractive, without restricting owners
by Yoshii, about 1 month agoI would love to see wider sidewalks and trimmed trees to allow a better experience and feeling of safety when walking on this street, especially for my kids. Better intersections, especially at Texas and Louisiana that make it easy to see traffic and pedestrians from all angles is especially important. It would be great to make it more attractive as well, with better direct down lighting but I don't want owners on that street being forced to comply with any new visual regulations or deal with light polluyion, people first! -
A Quiet Tree-Lined Road in Texa-Tonka
by LukeVS, about 1 month agoI see the portion of Minnetonka Boulevard between Oregon & Xylon as a place where the primary focus is on people young and old being able to safely and easily walk or bike along tree-lined and quiet streets to go between their homes and the wonderful shops and restaurants of Texa-Tonka, or their school (Aquila), or parks (Aquila, Rainbow, Texa-Tonka), or trails (North Cedar Lake Regional, Texas Ave bikeway) and a strong secondary focus on people doing the same, from further away, by bicycle, all while ensuring people from further away can bike, use convenient transit, or even drive to... Copy Cedar Lake Road
by Andy, about 1 month agoThe update on Cedar Lake, east of 169, should be the example. Narrowed road, elevated bike lane, and more pedestrian friendly. Copy/paste. -
