  • If my application is accepted how long would it be before tree removal takes place?

    T asked 29 days ago

After acceptance into the program, it will take anywhere up to 3-4 months for the scheduling, removal, and stump grinding of your tree. Trees can still be removed in the winter with stump grinding occurring in the spring.

  • If you aren't chosen, can you resubmit during the next open application

    Cheryl asked 4 months ago

Residents can apply during each open period until they are selected. We understand that it can be difficult to get into the program and want as many residents as possible to participate. We ask that people who have had trees removed via the program refrain from applying as there are still many residents who have yet to participate.

  • How much do you have to pay to remove a tree?

Catherine Williams asked 10 months ago

If you are accepted into our tree removal and replacement program, Hennepin County will accept the full cost of each step in the program. The removal of the tree and stump and planting of a replacement tree will be performed by our contractors or staff and will be at no cost to you.

  • What income qualifies for this tree removal serbice?

Skubat56 asked about 1 year ago

We are prioritizing applications from property owners who live at their property and whose household income is under $97,800 (for households from 1 to 4 people). See this chart for households of 5 or more people(External link).

  • What do you do if city indicates removal of ash tree and you can't afford it? Quotes for removing 60ft tree over $5000!

RP asked over 1 year ago

If the city condemns your tree, please apply for the program and note that your tree has been condemned in your application.

  • For the new grants for diseased tree removal, if a tree has been identified as having two-line chestnut borer and is not treatable, can this tree qualify for the removal grant if the owner meets low-income requirements?

Marjorie asked about 2 years ago

All non-ash trees are subject to inspection, and only diseased trees will be removed through this grant program. Trees which do not pose significant danger will not be removed through this program.

  • Will we get to pick the type of tree that will replace the one removed?

Keri M asked almost 2 years ago

Great question! County foresters will provide a list of tree options for replacement trees that is unique to each site. Availability of trees and site details will play into which trees there are for property owners to choose from.

  • How can I get an ash tree on my property inspected and condemned (if it is infested)? I live in North Minneapolis and I meet the requirements for the grant program.

Michael R Lovik asked about 2 years ago

To have a tree inspected and condemned, please contact Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board. You can find more information on their process here: Trees & the Urban Forest - Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (minneapolisparks.org)

  • When will removal begin If applicant moves before removal, can it be applied to new homeowner

Deannahanschen@kw.com asked about 2 years ago

If an applicant moves, the process will end, and that tree will be taken off the removal list. The application does not transfer to the new homeowner.
