Buying Bulk

Since there is no bulk purchasing opportunities in my community, it has been difficult to try, let alone learn how.

I am going to buy a box of mason jars and take a bus to the nearest cooperative grocery store and ask someone there to teach me how to buy things in bulk. I an so tired of all the plastic packaging that I can't even recycle.

Darnell, it is great that you're willing to take a special trip to a coop to buy in bulk! One of the local zero waste stores made a video on how to tare your containers. The process is very similar at a cooperative grocery store. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7phPQDr7aE

The jars are a great idea. My bulk items do far are like some grocery items. A lot of cleaning products. I have started to buy like Mr. Clean in a large container so that I can reuse it without buying a new spray bottle so I don't waste that plastic from the bottle and I don't have to put the nozzle in the trash. This is a new adventure for me so wish me luck.
