  • Update 4: survey results are now available

    Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent strategic planning survey! The survey results help us better understand how community members interact with Hennepin County Public Health. The results are also being used to create strategies and activities in the 2026-2030 strategic plan.

    Survey results are summarized in the Community Engagement Summary Report – third round, located the in upper-right of this page. We are continuing to review results for differences in responses by race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, housing stability, and other factors.

    You are welcome to share any questions or comments about the survey results, so feel free to reach out.

  • Update 3: community survey now open!

    Greetings!

    Hennepin County Public Health is excited to invite community members to participate in a community survey designed to help us build our strategic plan.

    The results from the survey will inform the department of the best ways to support community needs. Survey questions build upon findings from previous engagement activities, and include questions around sharing information, access to services, and trust. Find more information about previous engagement in the Community Engagement Summary Reports in the document section at the top of the right hand side of this page. Translations of the second round summary report will be added soon.

    Community members and partners are welcome to complete the survey by 10/17/2025. This survey is voluntary and should take about 10 minutes to complete. Personally identifiable information will be kept confidential, and your name will not be tied to your responses. Thank you for completing this survey and helping to shape the future of Hennepin County Public Health. As a token of appreciation, Hennepin County residents will have the option to enter their name and address to receive a $25 prepaid debit card at the end of this survey.Please also feel free to share the survey link with fellow community members and your networks.

    Engaging with community, staff, and partners helps ensure the strategic plan is set up to be successful. Strategic planning team members continue to guide an advisory committee through the development of strategic plan elements such as goals and strategies. HCPH will share updated products and summaries as they become available.

  • Update 2: your input shapes Public Health strategic planning

    Happy summertime!

    The summary of the first round of community engagement related to strategic planning is complete and added to this site. Check it out in the “Documents” section on the top right hand side of the page. This information, in addition to input from staff and partners is being used to inform the development of our foundational department elements, such as mission, vision, and values. Your input is also being used to inform department goals, which will guide the department strategic plan for the next several years. Once our mission, vision, values, and goals are finalized, we will also share those.

    We have started our second round of community engagement and will share a summary at the end of the summer. We will also be starting a third round later this summer into early fall. As this project continues, we encourage you to check back regularly for more updates and information about strategic planning. Thanks to all who have offered ideas and input already!

  • Update 1: updating mission and vision statement and values

    Greetings and happy springtime!

    The Hennepin County Public Health (HCPH) strategic planning team is excited to share an update on progress with this project. The Strategic Planning Advisory Committee (the Advisory Committee) has met several times to revise foundational elements of the plan. So far, the revised mission statement, vision statement, and values are being reviewed.

    In May, the advisory group will review information gathered from Hennepin County Public Health staff, community engagement, partner engagement, and other activities. This information will help the group develop recommendations for strategic plan goals.

    Hennepin County Public Health develops a new strategic plan every few years. The plan in development will run from 2026-2028.Your feedback will help us shape the priorities of the department and create a strategic plan that will reflect the needs of the community.
