lived on MTKA BLVD since 1990

I've lived on the south side of MTKA, East of Texas, off and on since I was born, and will be moving back this summer.

The sidewalk on the south side of MTKA East of Sumter is far too narrow. With the hill at that corner, drivers leaving Sumter do not have enough time to see and react to anyone on that sidewalk traveling west if they are moving faster than a slow walk. I know runners have been bumped there.
There is no easy crossing between Texas and Louisiana - and both Texas and Louisiana are nervewracking to navigate outside of a car. Honestly, I would love to see Louisiana/MTKA reworked into a roundabout - or at least narrowed down and given pedestrian islands. Texas/MTKA is too small for a roundabout, but pedestrian islands would be welcome there, too.
Crossing MTKA between Sumter and Maryland is scary and difficult outside of a car, and as a driver, it is almost impossible to see pedestrians waiting on corners to cross except in broad daylight. Increase downward lighting on streetcorners so that drivers can see pedestrians waiting to cross. Currently, light is cast in the middle of the road: only helpful if a pedestrian is already actively crossing (which they generally aren't if a car is approaching).
Throughout this segment of road, I would love bumpouts preventing people from passing on the shoulder when one car stops for a pedestrian or left turn.
Would love a curb-protected multi-use trail on the South Side of MTKA between Xylon and Louisiana to enable easier access to the Cedar Lake North Trail by Xylon. East of Texas, South of MTKA, using side streets to access the trail requires detouring to 33rd to cross Texas and head to Aquila - a significant Westward detour if one is trying to head East to downtown. Currently, accessing the trail requires crossing MTKA to enter at Virginia or Rhode Island (or heading East and detouring through the parking lots by the giant Louisiana bridge or going all the way to Dakota). Getting to the Xylon spur requires either illegally rolling against traffic, illegally using the sidewalk, or doing the legal (but very scary and unsafe) thing: cross MTKA to roll with traffic. That requires making a left turn from a side street onto MTKA and then another left turn off MTKA. As a biker or skater, deeply unsafe.
