Final design and engagement summary
We’re grateful to everyone in the community who took the time to review and provide feedback on the design concepts for Minnetonka Boulevard earlier this spring. Your input helped shape a stronger final design. We have finalized the design and are no longer collecting feedback.
We look forward to sharing construction timing, phasing, and detour information with you in early 2027. In the meantime, you can review the current project layout and engagement summary from this phase of engagement and reach out to the project team with questions or comments.
Planned Improvements
When construction is complete, this section of Minnetonka Boulevard will be safer and easier to use for everyone. Improvements include:
- A reconstructed road designed with safety in mind, featuring one lane of traffic in each direction and left turn lanes at key intersections
- New pavement for a smoother, safer road
- Upgraded paths for people walking, biking and rolling, including a protected bike/shared-use path on both sides of Minnetonka Boulevard
- New curbs and ramps at crossings for better accessibility
- A concrete median at the Pennsylvania Avenue, Hampshire Avenue, and Alabama Avenue intersections to help people cross the road
- Updated streetlights, modernized traffic and pedestrian signals, and improved storm sewers
- New trees planted following construction, coordinated with the City of St. Louis Park
